Brown Sugar and Soy Sauce Glazed Salmon

Just a few ingredients that may normally be on hand, and you have a full-flavored marinade for salmon steaks. Brown Sugar, soy sauce, honey, butter and garlic creates an amazing marinade full of flavor that is both sweet and savory.

Glazed Salmon

You can either choose to grill the salmon steaks on a medium heat, or pan cook them like I did. I wasn’t in the mood to take extra time to heat up the coals to grill the salmon, but the cast iron skillet was my second runner up and the salmon came out perfect, flavorful and delicious.

Marinating helps the salmon to soak up the the sweet and savory flavors of the brown sugar and soy sauce. The butter and oil helps to keep it from sticking to the grill or pan. You don’t want to marinate longer than an hour since salmon is a delicate fish. I marinated my salmon tonight for 30 minutes and the flavor was there, however, next time I’ll go the full hour for a more flavor packed punch. The brown sugar and soy sauce, along with the honey, makes a beautiful caramelized glazed.

Salmon is so versatile that you can serve it with just about anything. Tonight I wanted a light and refreshing dinner so I choose quinoa. A simple salad or asparagus or even scalloped potatoes would pair perfectly. Experiment and enjoy.
