Texas Roadhouse Date Night

Texas Roadhouse Date Night
Texas Roadhouse

Loud, vibrant, hoppin happening place at the Twin Falls Texas Roadhouse last night.  My husband and I went into town for a Costco run and decided to use our gift card from my son and daughter-in-love they gave us at Christmas for a date night. Date night it was and an excellent decision.

There are no out-of-the-box creative dishes, but the menu is one to count on for a delicious meal. I’ve never been disappointed yet. Texas Roadhouse is my place I can splurge on bread, those of you who know, know. I am a bread lover, but my body is intolerant to gluten so it’s got to be a good thing to be worth eating it. It’s worth eating at Texas Roadhouse.

Please give me a smile and be courteous as you greet me when I enter, this sets the whole mood for the dining experience.

I wasn’t impressed with the front hostess when we first arrived, she was cold and emotionless. Yes, I understand people are working hard and by 7:30 pm she may have been there for a while and dealt with rude people. I am not those people. Please give me a smile and be courteous as you greet me when I enter, this sets the whole mood for the dining experience. This was our first visit to this location, I’m not sure I will make it a point to revisit, instead, I’ll go to our preferred branch in another city, they are on it and meet you at the door expressing their happiness you’ve chosen to come. Both are about equal distances apart from us where we live. I’m a bit particular about service, especially if I’m driving almost an hour to go eat.

For Starters

Mango Margarita

We started off with the Combo Platter which consisted of Rattlesnake Bites, Tater Skins, and Mild Boneless Buffalo Wings. I’m not a fan of buffalo wings, but my husband enjoyed them. I love the Rattlesnake Bites; diced jalapeños and jack cheese fried to deliciousness. The middle is the perfect gooeyness of melted cheese and the jalapeño has just enough kick to let you know it’s there but not unbearable. The Tater Skins are perfectly crisp, almost blackened underneath. (I definitely don’t like soggy tater skins.) These are topped with melted cheddar cheese and bacon bits, I love the saltiness of the two combined, like a match made in heaven. Along with our appetizer, I chose their new Mango Margarita. The sweetness of the mango paired perfectly with Rattlesnake Bites and complimented my dinner.

Entree

Portobello Mushroom Chicken

I normally get a Rib-eye steak, but last night decided to opt for something different, the Portobello Mushroom Chicken. In the future, it’ll be a toss-up on the choice between the two. A grilled, marinated chicken breast topped with their Portobello Mushroom sauce, melted jack cheese, and freshly grated Parmesan cheese. I love mushrooms and Texas Roadhouse has a fantastic Portobello Mushroom sauce, it has a deep earthy flavor that only mushrooms give and paired deliciously with the Chicken Breast. I can’t even get my Chicken Breast to finish that perfect and succulent, I’ve got to step up my game and practice more. The melted jack cheese gave the Chicken and Portobello Mushroom sauce just the right mild sweetness and the parmesan topped it off with light nutty flavor.  I paired the green beans and fully loaded sweet potato as my sides with the Chicken and they rounded off the meal superbly.

I love amazing servers like Ricky

Our server was Ricky. At first, I wasn’t impressed by him. But as the evening went on, I changed my mind. He didn’t give that 5-star experience when bringing the appetizer and the plates out and where he placed them, but his attention to detail made up for it. Like later when he noticed I probably needed water and asked. He kept my husband’s drink refilled which he appreciates. I stopped long enough to consider how busy it was during our visit and it was like that nonstop the entire time. People coming and going. Plus my first impression made by the hostess was still at the back of my mind and Ricky wasn’t the hostess. It’s ok if the appetizer wasn’t placed exactly where it should’ve been, I wasn’t at a 5-star restaurant, he got it to us timely and it was hot. I love servers like Ricky. He got everything we ordered just right, brought it to the table just when and how it should’ve been, and noticed just when we needed something. He never hovered, which I detest. If we re-visit, I will ask for him. It will be worth the wait. Plus there’s bread!
